Nautilus Rising
By: Erik Tilleby - Who needs sleep when you already got a dream...
In Nautilus Rising, players are immersed in a richly atmospheric hybrid RPG-adventure, merging modern gameplay with retro stylings reminiscent of Monkey Island and The Broken Sword. Set in a world shaped by the age of steam and early technological marvels, the game draws inspiration from Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas and The Mysterious Island. Players navigate a tale of survival, discovery, and intrigue, unraveling mysteries that intertwine human ambition, ethical dilemmas, and the enigmatic legacy of Captain Nemo.
Story Overview
You assume the role of Captain James Arden, a disciplined and resourceful naval officer driven by duty and curiosity. Tasked with investigating reports of a monstrous sea creature, Arden and his crew are drawn into treacherous waters, where a violent storm leaves them shipwrecked on an uncharted island that defies reason. Amid dense jungles, hidden ruins, and the shadowy depths of the ocean, remnants of a lost civilization beckon—a civilization whose technological wonders challenge everything they know.
As the survivors seek answers, they stumble upon cryptic clues leading to the fabled Argonaut, a legendary underwater vessel shrouded in myth and tied to the vision of Captain Nemo. Each discovery draws Arden closer to a profound truth, forcing him to grapple with questions about humanity’s place in nature, the dangers of wielding untamed power, and the ethical weight of his choices.
But the island harbors more than relics. Ancient puzzles, hostile creatures, and eerie echoes of a forgotten crew create an atmosphere thick with tension and curiosity. Guided by fragments of Nemo’s journals and cryptic messages from Elara, a spectral guardian of the Argonaut, Arden must navigate treacherous paths to unlock the vessel’s secrets and confront the ancient power that stirs beneath the waves.
As shadows of Nemo’s legacy loom large, Arden faces a fateful decision: preserve the knowledge of the past to protect the future or risk it all by seizing the power hidden below. Every choice shapes his journey, with consequences rippling far beyond the shores of the island.
